The 44th Turbomachinery and 31st Pump Symposia is being held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas from September 14th to 17th. The symposia aims to "promote professional development, technology transfer, peer networking, and information exchange among industry professionals" with events ranging from tutorials and case studies to lectures and exhibitions.
Attendees of the symposia enjoy access to a complete program agenda sorted into the two different shows—pump and turbo—along with session categories. All agenda items offer full details, times, and room locations, while bookmarking and calendar integration with 3rd-party apps such as iCal and Outlook give attendees the ability to save relevant sessions. Exhibitor listing are also provided in 100+ categories and supplemented with an interactive map to view the exhibition hall floor plan and track individual booths as bookmarked or visited—complete with color coding and separate user-generated booth listings. Other highlights of the mobile event app include a “program at a glance”, as well as social media integration with Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Texas A&M University's Turbomachinery Laboratory "conducts basic and applied research into important problems of reliability and performance of turbomachinery -- rotating machinery that extracts or adds energy to fluids." The laboratory also sponsors annual symposia to provide continuing education and support for undergraduate and graduate level programs in the field.
